Taxi to Rotterdam The Hague Airport: travel time, price and when it beats Schiphol

I drive this route regularly, but I didn't write these numbers down from memory. They come from the same Google Routes calculation that produces the price on our booking page, requested for a weekday (Tuesday 29 September 2026) at four departure times: 06:00, 07:30, 12:00 and 17:00. The travel time includes the traffic Google expects at that moment.

The price is what you pay us under the 2026 rate, including 9% VAT. Where two amounts are shown, Google picked a different route at one time than at another, a few kilometres apart.

Read the table closely and you'll notice something odd: from Scheveningen the ride takes nine minutes longer at 17:00 than at 06:00, yet the price is the same. That's because our price is made of two calculations, and you always pay the lower one.

The first is the meter: €4.31 base fare, €3.17 per kilometre and €0.52 per minute. The second is a ceiling that only looks at distance. From Scheveningen the meter would land between €95.59 and €100.47, depending on traffic. The ceiling for 24.9 km is €86.45, so that's what you pay, even if you're stuck in a jam.

On the short rides, such as from Delft and usually from Central Station, the meter stays under that ceiling. There you do see rush hour in the price, but it's a euro or two. How the meter and the fixed prices work together is explained on the prices page.

From The Hague Central Station to Schiphol is 42 to 43 km. On the same Tuesday that took 32 to 36 minutes, and the ride costs a fixed €120 with us. Rotterdam The Hague Airport is half the distance, about half the time, and you pay €70 to €80. If you live in Delft, Rijswijk or Ypenburg, the gap is even bigger: you're driving the opposite way from the A4 to Amsterdam.

The airport itself is much smaller. The departures hall is easy to find your way around and you walk from the kerb to the check-in desk in a few minutes, where at Schiphol that can take a quarter of an hour. But far fewer flights leave from here, mostly to European cities and holiday destinations. Whether yours is among them, and on which days, changes by season. Check the Rotterdam The Hague Airport website or your airline before you start comparing.

From Wassenaar or Scheveningen the sum is less clear-cut. The ride to Rotterdam then costs €86 to €101, and for €120 you can get to Schiphol from there. The choice then mostly comes down to the flight itself: the ticket price, the departure time and whether there's a direct connection.

Many flights from Rotterdam leave early in the morning. You can book online for rides between 06:00 and 23:00. Need to leave earlier? Contact us on WhatsApp or by phone and we'll see whether it fits.

A ride leaving before 09:00 the next morning needs to be booked by 23:00 the evening before. After that, the plan for those first rides is fixed. A same-day ride needs at least three hours' notice.

How early you should leave home depends on your airline and whether you're checking bags. That advice varies by airline and by season, so I'm not giving a fixed number here. The way to work it out is the same as for Schiphol: I've written it out here. Add the travel time from the table above, using the column closest to your departure time.

Arriving at Rotterdam The Hague Airport? Put your flight number in the notes field when you book. I keep an eye on the landing time and adjust the pickup if your flight is delayed. From the actual landing you get 60 minutes of free waiting time, enough for passport control and the baggage belt at an airport this size.

The return ride is priced the same way as the outbound one: the meter with the same ceiling, so roughly the amounts in the table. The fixed €120 applies to Schiphol only, not Rotterdam. You don't need it for Rotterdam anyway, because the meter stays well below it.
