Taxi at The Hague Central Station: the pickup point, and when it beats a transfer

Future Taxi works without a taxi rank. At most addresses that makes no difference: you stand at the door and the driver comes to you. At The Hague Central Station it's a little different. The forecourt, Koningin Julianaplein, is largely laid out for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport, and not every spot where you can currently wait stays that way all year.

So for a ride from the station we agree the exact pickup point with you beforehand, via the app or WhatsApp, based on which exit you use. Coming out on the Beatrixkwartier side is a different spot than the city-centre side. You don't need to search for us: the driver is there, with your name on the screen if it's your first time.

The same arrangement applies for the ride back to the station. Give us your destination in the city, and we'll know which side of the station to drop you at for your train.

Not every destination in and around The Hague sits on a direct tram or bus line from the station. For four frequently requested destinations we pulled the drive time from the same Google traffic data that feeds the price estimate on this site, measured for a weekday Tuesday.

The meter fare in the table is the amount under our own 2026 rate: a €4.31 base fare, €3.17 per kilometre and €0.52 per minute, with a €30.00 minimum per ride.

The journey time a transit planner shows is the time between two stops. On top of that comes the time you spend waiting on the platform or at the stop, plus the walk from one platform to another if you have to transfer. Miss a connection by a minute and that adds up fast, and by how much differs per route and time of day. Check that yourself for your own trip; we won't make up a fixed figure for it.

What we can show is the drive time above: door to door, with no waiting and no second platform. For a destination without a direct line, such as Kijkduin or Ypenburg, that gap with a transfer is often bigger than the ride itself takes.

For the World Forum, where congresses and international meetings regularly take place, the distance from the station is small at 4.4 kilometres. Business guests still often choose a taxi: no hauling a laptop bag and a suitcase through a transfer, and a fixed arrival time instead of a timetable that can slip. Arranging transport for a whole delegation? Look at business transport, with an invoice the finance team can process in one go.

For Kijkduin it's a different story: arriving at the station with beach gear and children leaves little appetite for a transfer with luggage between two vehicles. The 20 to 25 minute drive is then by far the easiest part of the trip.

Ypenburg, with offices and companies spread across a larger area, is a third case: the tram gets you to a fixed stop, but the last stretch to a specific business address is often still on foot. A taxi puts you at the door of the address itself.

For a short ride, such as to the World Forum, the meter fare works out at €22.94: 9 minutes' drive at €0.52 per minute, plus 4.4 kilometres at €3.17, plus the €4.31 base fare. That's below the €30.00 minimum, so the minimum applies instead of the raw sum.

For the longer rides in the table, to Kijkduin, Ypenburg or Rotterdam The Hague Airport, the meter fare does land above the minimum. Those prices are above, and the same sum for any other destination is on the prices page.

Booking online is possible between 06:00 and 23:00, with at least three hours' notice for a same-day ride. Once you know your arrival time, you can book straight from the train: the station address is enough as a pickup point, we'll settle the exact spot afterwards.

Arriving with less than three hours' notice, or outside those hours, call or message us instead. That works more often than a last-minute booking through the form, where the lead time is strict.
