Luggage in the taxi: how much fits in the BYD Seal, and what if it doesn't fit
Four passengers and two large suitcases always fit, no surcharge. What that means in practice, and what to do if you're bringing more.
Short answer
The Future Taxi BYD Seal fits 4 passengers with 2 large suitcases, the size you'd check in for a flight. That's the standard capacity, no surcharge. A small bag per passenger on top of those two suitcases usually still fits in the footwell, but it isn't guaranteed. Bringing more, tell us in advance.
What actually fits in the car?
Future Taxi drives one fixed car, a fully electric BYD Seal, and the capacity that comes with it isn't something we can stretch on request. The standard is 4 passengers with 2 large suitcases, no surcharge for that luggage. That number shows up in more than one place on this site because it's the actual space in this car, not a marketing figure.
By "large suitcase" we mean the size you'd check in as hold luggage on a flight, a case you wouldn't carry on your lap. Two of those fill the boot almost completely. After that there's some room left for smaller things, but not for a third suitcase of that size.
The 4 passengers are separate from the driver: you and your group sit across the back seat and the front passenger seat, the driver drives. With fewer passengers the balance shifts the other way; with 2 passengers there's room for more than 2 large suitcases, depending on their shape.
This capacity applies to every ride we drive, from a booking to Schiphol to a trip across town. There's one car and one layout: no bigger van we bring in whenever a flight lands late and everyone arrives with luggage at once.
What else fits, and what doesn't
A backpack, handbag or laptop bag per passenger usually still fits, in the footwell or on your lap. That's not guaranteed with 4 passengers and 2 full suitcases already in, but on most rides we drive it isn't a problem.
Where it more often goes wrong is luggage that isn't suitcase-shaped: a beach umbrella, a beach chair, a cooler box, an extra box. Those things aren't always large in volume, but they're awkward to stack next to two suitcases, and sometimes too long for the boot. Heading to the beach with that kind of gear, just tell us in advance and we'll know if it fits in one car.
A third large suitcase, a golf bag, a bike, or a stroller on top of luggage: all cases where a quick call or WhatsApp message beforehand beats finding out at the curb that it doesn't fit.
What happens if it doesn't fit
Tell us in advance, and we arrange a colleague with a bigger car in time, or plan two rides instead of one. That's better for everyone than your guest standing on the pavement with a suitcase while the driver calls around for help.
If we only hear about it when you're getting in, we do what's possible at that moment: sometimes luggage goes in the front with the driver, sometimes part of it has to travel separately, or we arrange a second car if you can wait a little. Telling us beforehand avoids all of that.

No surcharge, but a limit
For luggage within the standard capacity you pay nothing extra: the fare follows the regular rate, a base fare of € 4.31, € 3.17 per kilometre and € 0.52 per minute, with a minimum of € 30.00. Some taxi firms would charge extra or make a fuss over two large suitcases; we don't, as long as it stays within that standard.
Book online and there's a notes field where you can mention your luggage. Only realise afterwards? Just call or WhatsApp us, that works just as well and is often faster than filling in the form again.
The same goes for a ride with a dedicated driver: same car, same capacity, every time. Useful if you travel with luggage often and don't want to explain what fits every single time.
