Fixed price to Schiphol: what the meter would cost per district

To Schiphol, Future Taxi charges a fixed price of €120.00, from anywhere in The Hague and its surroundings. But what would you pay without that fixed price? That differs per district, sometimes considerably. We worked it out for the eight districts we recently gave their own page, using the 2026 meter rate: a €4.31 base fare, €3.17 per kilometre and €0.52 per minute.

The distances and drive times come from the same Google Routes API measurement used across the rest of this site, taken on a weekday Tuesday with live traffic information. The table below lists them, from smallest to largest difference.

Most of the difference simply comes from distance: Kijkduin lies almost seventeen kilometres further from Schiphol than Leidschenveen, and those kilometres show up directly in the meter fare. But distance isn't the whole story. Statenkwartier (47.5 km) and Bezuidenhout (43.0 km) sit close together on the map, yet Bezuidenhout is the fastest district in the city to Schiphol while Statenkwartier is ten minutes slower. That comes down to the route out of the neighbourhood, not the distance: from Bezuidenhout you're on the A12 within five minutes, from Statenkwartier you first have to cross the city.

That same time component explains why Duinoord (46.6 km) produces a longer ride than Ypenburg (39.4 km), even though the gap in kilometres is smaller than the gap in minutes: every minute in the car costs €0.52, on top of the per-kilometre rate.

Travelling with four people from Kijkduin, the meter fare would work out at just over €52 per person. With the fixed price you pay €30 per person, the same amount as from any other district.

Want to check it yourself? For Statenkwartier that's 47.485 kilometres times €3.17, which is €150.53, plus the €4.31 base fare makes €154.84. Time adds to that: 45.23 minutes times €0.52 is €23.52. Add it up and you land on €178.36, exactly the figure in the table.

We run that same sum for every ride, using your own address and the live traffic forecast at the moment you book. To and from Schiphol the outcome makes no difference to what you pay, since the €120.00 fixed price applies regardless. The general explainer on the fixed price notes that it's a ceiling: if the meter fare for your address works out lower than €120.00, you pay that lower amount instead. For these eight districts that point never comes up. The shortest ride, from Leidschenveen, already comes to €146.83, well above the fixed price. From anywhere in The Hague and its surroundings, you therefore always pay less than the meter would calculate.

That ceiling would kick in for an address much closer to Schiphol, for example in Hoofddorp. Future Taxi rarely drives there in practice, but the rule stays the same: the meter is the legal maximum, and we never charge more than that.

The practical upshot: you don't need to work out which district gets the best deal when booking, because there isn't one. You pay €120.00 whether you live in Leidschenveen or Kijkduin, whatever the time of day. Whoever lives further out simply benefits more, without having to do anything for it.

Booking is possible up to three hours ahead for the same day. For an early morning flight, booking during the day is the smart move: the early morning slots for the next day are often already taken by late evening.
