A smoother, more even ride
An electric car drives differently from one with a combustion engine, and you notice it as a passenger. No droning engine, no vibration when pulling away, just quiet, even propulsion.
That is because nothing shifts. A BYD Seal has a single gear ratio, so there are no shift points where the revs jump and the car gives a little shove.
No exhaust, less noise
An electric car emits no exhaust fumes on the road. For rides through the city that is not only better for air quality, it also cuts noise, handy if you want to take a call or simply enjoy the ride.
Charging happens between rides, not during
The question we get most about an electric taxi is whether you will be waiting at a charger halfway. No. Our scheduling works with a 400 kilometre range, and the longest ride within our service area comes nowhere near that: The Hague to Schiphol is 44 kilometres, so about 88 there and back.
As soon as a day's rides together exceed that range, the schedule flags it in advance and charging time is planned between two rides. So we don't stand at a charger with a passenger in the car.
Why a quiet car matters on business
On a business ride the quiet is not a luxury but a function. You can take a call without engine noise behind it, or do the last bit of preparation without raising your voice. For a ride to a meeting or from a flight that matters more than it sounds.
What electric does not mean
One nuance, because we would rather not overpromise. On the road the car is emission free, and that is exactly what we say. What the total footprint is also depends on how the electricity was generated and how the car was built. So we call the ride emission free on the road, not climate neutral.

Is an electric taxi better if you get carsick easily?
We don't claim that. The car pulls away and brakes more evenly because nothing shifts, but research into regenerative braking points the other way for some passengers. If you are sensitive to it, tell the driver: he can brake more gently.
